When I Was Your Age

You kids today. When I was your age...

• There were only 13 TV channels.
• We got up to change the channel.
• Saturday mornings were devoted to TV cartoons.
• We went to the library to do research for school and used card catalogs to find books.
• We typed on a typewriter to do book reports, and use whiteout to fix mistakes.
• We read physical books, the kind that give you paper cuts.
• We made a phone call by (1) walking to the phone and (2) dialing the number with our fingers.
• If I was away from home and needed to make a phone call I'd look for a pay phone and put in 10 cents.
• I went to physical stores where I bought stuff that's you can now find Amazon.
• We played outside in what's called a "playground."
• Rented videotapes from Blockbuster and had to "be kind, rewind" or pay a 50 cents fee.
• The contacts list was called "phone book."
• Used a paper version of Waze that had to be unfolded .....
• Music was played on a record player, and if you wanted to skip a song you had to get up and move the tonearm.
• If I had to put money in my account I had to go when the bank was open, fill out a deposit slip and go to a teller.
